With the world increasingly under surveillance and the onslaught of terrorism, there seems to be no territory virgin or safe. More and more people escape or live in the virtual or cyber or digital realm. Now with cyberspace and the net being patrolled, no corners of the digital realm is not surveyed or touched by that state, except may be single computer that is not connected. Psychologically the minds or mind set of people cannot be monitored and there are still spaces untouched by the state, yet with the mass media being controlled and propaganda rampant, the thinking of the populace can be predicted and watched over. All these elements of the big brother manifested themselves in the powerful states of the US and China. These realities only made us long for a virgin territory or space that is untouched by the so called civilised society. This romantic notion of nature or the sublime or paradise appears often in literature and cinema. Human longs for a space that allows the inner peace of being to be realised, can this space be generated by virtual reality?
