Evolution and Paradigm

The protests and rally in many places in the post-industrial world keep me thinking some fundamental questions about society and the idea of paradigm. People in all history, in all classes, all society and all races struggle to a better life. What is that better life? Essentially the kind of living that is enhanced and enriched by technologies. Putting aside the side effects of the darker implications of technologies, it is the one essential enabler for the species to not only survive the earthly environment and social constrains but to master the temporal existence on this realm. And so even the technology is there, may be already discovered or bestowed by some heavenly aliens, there can be a time when things are too good to be true. Today I am watching a You-tuber named Tech Lead discussing why his wife has left him. Basically it was because success ruined his marriage. That having abundant of money affected the relationship. I can see that can happen. Having too much of something suddenly can ruin it all. Same for fame, resources, knowledge and technology. So how much can a society have in terms of advance technology? What is the timing of such technology for a civilization? The technological development of a civilization, if de-coupled with spiritual and moral development, will completely wipe out the species.
