Inspired by the enigmatic paintings of Giorgio de Chirico, The Soul Investigator is the story of the man with the wound - Yuen who must finds out about a bleeding wound in his hand before he completely forget his "little dream", that, according to the Mad Bum, a beggar preaching the end of the world, when all the dreams are forgotten, the end comes. The Soul Investigator: Chide the Wind is a enigmatic guru who collects strange incidences, he is able to decipher the secret sign the wound, yet upon seeing Yuen, he offers only three stories to explain, three riddles that further mystify the situation.

Shot with high contrast black and white 16mm cinematography, The Soul Investigator paints a Toronto landscape never seen before on screen and transports the protagonist and the audience to a mystical landscape equal in power to the deserted landscape in Giorgio de Chirico metaphysical paintings of empty townsquares and desolate hinterland.
